The Best Table?
Wednesday, 26 August 2009
Edinburgh in August is something not to miss. The festival is in full swing and the population of the city more than doubles during this time.
Getting the right reservations in place can be difficult whoever you are - especially the most coveted slots at the best restaurants. As is normal, we have had our fair share of late requests this year for Michelin star restaurants. These are normally for 4-6 people at 7.30pm on a Friday or Saturday night. Just this week we had a request for a table for 4 people at The Witchery for 7.30pm on Saturday 29th August - the last night of the Edinburgh Tattoo.
Of course, we looked into the possibility of making this happen but then we looked in more detail at the request. It was for a Vice President of a Publishing Company in New York and he wanted to impress his guests. Now, The Witchery is booked up months & months in advance for the final weekend of the Festival, however, we suggested that they take a 10pm table at The Tower - another of James Thompson's restaurants in Edinburgh.
The Tower has a balcony with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and as this was the final night of the Tattoo, there would be a huge fireworks display at around midnight - just about when there liquers would be arriving.
This was the perfect solution and a much better table & overall experience for the party. Knowledge together with creative thinking really works!
